I wish I could be braver with mushrooms. I have it in my head that some are poisonous and I don't know which ones. So, to gather any, for any reason, makes me too nervous because what if the poison is on your fingers and you get it into your mouth? I don't have many irrational fears, but this is one of them. It makes me sad since I'd love to play with mushrooms.

We didn't actually touch any of the mushrooms, we use tongs, forceps and shovels to scoop and grab them. I also googled to see if any of the local growing mushrooms would have poisonous gases if heated and we were good to go.
Thanks for sharing!

That's one of the most fun things about learning at home -- the serendipitous directions in which learning travels.

Hi - Thanks for wanting to share your ideas & comments! I love hearing what others have to say, but just so that everyone is aware, I have the right and option to decide to post a comment or not. Foul language, inappropriate comments, lashing out at the world, or posting irrelevant ad links are a few reasons why posts may be rejected. My daughter & her friends like to frequently see what is being posted so therefore I would like to keep it clean.
I also have a tendency to reject "Anonymous" posts as I feel the content is not verifiable, therefore is often either irrelevant or not viable.
If your comment has been accepted - it will generally appear in less than 24 hours! Thanks Gina
