Oh, I hear this, especially this year! My teenager insists that she's never going to have any friends if she isn't in high school. Just- no. I'm making an effort to cobble together more activities where she can meet other people in her age range, but I am firm that she is *not* going to school to do it.

Great post, Gina! I agree. Socialization and friendship are two totally different things, and I have no desire to "socialize" my kids. ;)

I agree with Deb, Where in the world do you go that is anything like school? Since graduating I have never experienced anything like it, and most of my close friends are not my highschool buddies, but my family. Thanks for sharing!

Hi - Thanks for wanting to share your ideas & comments! I love hearing what others have to say, but just so that everyone is aware, I have the right and option to decide to post a comment or not. Foul language, inappropriate comments, lashing out at the world, or posting irrelevant ad links are a few reasons why posts may be rejected. My daughter & her friends like to frequently see what is being posted so therefore I would like to keep it clean.
I also have a tendency to reject "Anonymous" posts as I feel the content is not verifiable, therefore is often either irrelevant or not viable.
If your comment has been accepted - it will generally appear in less than 24 hours! Thanks Gina
