OVERVIEW: Taormina is a heavenly small village in south of Sicily. In the beginning of April we arranged this girls weekend getaway trip to soak up Sicilian sun and enjoy the yummy Italian food; at the end of 72 hours both missions were 100% accomplished! We flew from London to Catania and rented a car to drive to Taormina; the one hour long journey was as smooth as it could be.

WHERE TO STAY: For the first time in my life I used Airbnb and we rented Villa Mimosa in the heart of Taormina that hosts up to 8 people. The villa was beautifully decorated and our host Louise was amazingly helpful. We followed her restaurant and beach recommendations and they were all top notch. I highly recommend Villa Mimosa if you want to spend some time relaxing with the view of the Etna volcano and the sea. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/4820085
Grand Hotel San Pietro is located right in front of the famous Theatre of Taormina facing the breathtaking views of Mediterranean Sea; it is bit pricey but the hotel for sure has an Italian glam!

WHERE TO EAT: For our arrival night dinner we followed Louise's advice and we ate at Ristorante Maffei's. It was not warm enough to sit outside but the garden with lemon trees is amazing for summer nights. Food was amazingly delicious and the interior is very old school; it reminded me the first opened Cipriani in Venice.

For lunch we had pizza at Villa Zuccaro; best pizza ever. Go for extra ricotta on top!

For a sea food festive you should go to Osteria Rosso di Vino; the staff is extremely helpful and they love to talk about their food (fluent English:). Ideal location for group dinners as well.

Before you leave Taormina make sure to visit Pasticceria Etna to eat the most delicious cannoli ever! WHERE TO SWIM: La Caravella is the great beach restaurant located five minute away from Taormina; if you don't have a car their shuttle comes and picks you up from the center.

What will remind me of Taormina: Big juicy Sicilian Lemons :)
Do's and Dont's: Do take your best friends with you and pack your umbrella if you are visiting Taormina during spring.
