Zeeshan,

I am truly sorry for your loss. I have been through this a few times, and it never gets easier. Each pet enters our heart and leaves a mark there forever. There are no words to make it better so I will not try. I do want to thank-you for sharing your story with us. Ostikka was very lucky to have such loving servants :-)

Also accept my condolences. I also lost three cats, two in car accidents and one after a long (two months?) illness which is in some aspect similar to Ostikka's. He just stopped eating, and at the end he was very thin. Unlike you, we did wait to perform euthanasia till the very last minute, when he was already dying and shaking for convulsions, with lifeless eyes. It wasn't a pleasant moment. I think that taking this brave and painful decision has saved you and Ostikka from more suffering.

It's silly how sometimes we might shed more tears for a pet than for a human being. But it's just the way it is: they never get angry at us, they can forgive us anything, and they are always there when we need to play with them. No wonder that we get so much attached to them.

The best consolation you can get is convincing yourself that Ostikka lived a wonderful life thanks to you and Ansku.

Ostikka was my cat before I moved to USA for studies and Zeeshan and Ansku took him and Pentu to live with them.

So, Ostikka was a good friend of mine. Always friendly, gentle, radiating happiness and joy and happy to make new friends. And he also took great care of Pentu who has grown into a big, handsome cat - who will miss Ostikka but hopefully he can also cherish the memories of good times.

Ostikka and Pentu helped me through times of stress and depression. They were always there for me. There are no words to adequately describe it. Such awesome cats. One day I will tell my grandchildren about this big, black, friendly cat called Ostikka. Such a friend he was to me.

Losing a pet you love is an awful experience, my deepest condolences. It sounds like you had a wonderful life together, and I think that's as much as any of us can hope for. I'm very sorry for your loss :(
