You could take a look at openbmap.org ?

the database is usable, and already filled with lots of data.

Thanks Anonymous, I'll look into that. We can probably use both openbmap.org and that openwlanmap to ensure a position fix.

I'm surprised that Mozilla Location Service has not been mentioned. I'm using MozStumbler on Android to submit data. Firefox can precisely display my exact location. Location service is important to Mozilla because of Firefox OS phone.

Anonymous, its not mentioned because I didn't even know it existed until a week after this blog post when a Mozzilla developer approached me about it. Rest assured, I'm planning to make use of that service. :)
