I regret the Aoki trade also. I can't be hard on the front office though, because at the time I thought it was a good move.

State of the Royals: Everything
Dayton Moore is the GM.

That might as well begin and end the discussion. And I am not saying that as a "I hate GMDM; he never did anything right" commentary. I think he was a good GM, just not good enough. Over the years, he built a great defense, a very good bullpen, and a good starting a rotation. He resigned his young guys to team friendly, long term contracts.

But, 8 years is enough. He isn't good enough. His inability to understand or develop offense will be his legacy.

Still, I will always appreciate his work for taking us from laughing stock to irrelevant. (I know that sounds like a back handed compliment, but I really mean it in the best way possible.) Now we need a GM to take the next step from irrelevant to relevant.

Jim Bowden was on the radio the other day. I liked the way he sounded. What are his credentials like? Was he interviewing on the air for the job?

And what about Rany? Why not? I secretly hoped that he was professing to leave the blog business after this year because he had designs on the Royals' GM job. Let's get a modern baseball thinker in that position!
