I don't have privilege to the conversations you have had with Joe Sheehan, other than the podcasts which I enjoy very much, but i have to agree with Joe.

Bill James has famously said that managers can only make a difference in roughly 3 games positive or negative per year. I might not have that quite right but I am close.

I really believe that Ned Yost is the outlier. He is costing the Royals much more than that.

For starters he has no idea how to use Jarrod Dyson. Dyson is a potential weapon and Yost makes sure that the weapon is silenced.

Yost's lack of ability in pinch hitting is criminal.

And the use of the bunt is by far the worst.

In short, I am convinced that Yost has and will continue to cost the Royals 7 plus games per year. My only hope is that the talent outshines him this year. Terry Francona, with this same roster would win 10 games more than Ned willl his year.

I'm very curious what it would take to land someone like Stanton from Miami if we were in a situation where we should go for it (as in both the trade and getting into postseason).
I imagine they want at least 2 or 3 of our top prospects and it might cost just as much, if not more, than what we gave up for Shields (although can you give up more than your #1 prospect who also happens to be the last POY)?

Stanton will cost us Duffy and Ventura, plus a position player (Bonifacio? Calixte? Even Mondesi?). I for one would pull that trigger, especially to prevent Detroit from getting him. But Rany, would you? What does "move the sun and moon" mean?

It would take more than Duffy, Ventura, and one of those players. It would take probably two or three of them.

Kinda hypocritical on the 5th starter and then Donnie Joseph.

First, don't pay attention to Will Smith's spring numbers, because he he has allowed more than a hit an inning at every stop in the minors, yet we're not to ignore Donnie Joseph's spring numbers, yet he has walks 4 per 9 his entire minor league career.

Can't have it both ways.

It's a fair point. The difference is that walk rates are MUCH more susceptible to sudden improvement than hit rates are.

I would say that anytime a historically bad player is going to have any spot on your team, it is pretty hard to be hypocritical of that player or the person that has him on the team.
