Rany, thanks again for returning to the blog. Isn't it wonderful to be discussing Royals baseball in October for a second year in a row? I could get used to this...

For entertainment and historical purposes, I'd like to see the Royals face LAA, who they edged in '85 to win the west, in the DS and TOR in the CS.

The Fox guys yesterday made a point that neither Zobrist or Gordon had better than a .300 OBP when they were in the leadoff spot either. If you're looking for some more voodoo it could be that neither player felt completely comfortable in that role, while Esky feels completely uncomfortable out of it.

So, with Cueto going 100+ pitches today, I think it is safe to assume that he is not the ALDS Game 1 starter, right? Will it be Ventura or Volquez?

I think they already said its Ventura.

Rany,

It's so challenging to articulate what this has meant to so many people to others who don't quite understand what this championship means, but the turnout today does speak to it. I left the midwest in '93 and I've come in contact with so many folks over the past year that have been a part of the diaspora of the last 30 years who rode the inexplicably beautiful wave that has been the last couple years. I think about the the tearful conversation I had with my dad yesterday after we'd won... folks like Art Stewart that have given the last half century to the Royals organization. I think about how over the last 18 months how this group's teamwork has touched people like the most moving art ever created. It is a blessing to be able to appreciate the accomplishment, no doubt about it. Thank you for your torch-bearing when things were the bleakest. It really did make it all worthwhile.
