My moments were Brett's 3000th hit, Saberhagen's no hitter, a Greg Pryor walk off in extra innings vs. the White Sox, Motley's homer in Game 7 in 1985, a Wilson inside the park homer, another one by Goodwin, the last out in Game 7 in 1985, and I know there are more, but those come to mind. Now, there are tons of new ones. I love the idea.

I will definitely come along for the ride. And, after you've finished the series of blog posts, if you want to collect them all and publish a book, I would buy that, too. I look forward to reliving the past two seasons through these posts.

And I'm serious about buying this in print, in addition to reading it for free online. Maybe talk with the people at the Kansas City Star? Combine your writing with their photos from the games, and you'd have a book I'd love to leave out on my coffee table during the upcoming season, and then keep on my shelf for when I want to revisit the 2014-15 seasons.

What Brett said. Also, your intro goes along perfectly with an exchange I had with a friend after the Gordon signing this week.

Me: I said at the end of the season that I didn't care if Gordon signed or not. I said I was a Royals fan, not a Gordon fan, so I just wanted them to do what was best for the team. However, when he signed, I totally forgot all that and realized how much he meant to me as a player. He's our guy! I started rooting for the team in '97, so I have never had a player stay. Gordon will be our Brett, our White. He's a Royal for life!

Friend: What about Mike Sweeney? He stayed.

Me: Hmmm, that's right. (Thinking for a moment.) Yeah, but his staying didn't matter because it never led to anything. I loved Sweeney, but he never had a chance to hit a game tying home run in the World Series!

I think this perfectly illustrates your point about "moments".

The Dyson catch and throw was and still is one of my favorites and seems totally underrated. Angels score that run if that throw is off by even a foot. The moment was deflating to the Angels. The bench was stunned. I think that moment was the "oh shit, we're going to lose this" moment for the Angels. We had the mental edge thereafter. I say that because it is exactly how I felt at the time. I texted my buddy, "Dyson just won the Series!" In Game 2, in a tie-game in the 8th inning I was convinced we had just won the Series. That moment was so great. Dyson's reaction. He was like Omar in The Wire. "If you come at the King, you best not miss."

Wow. If I go purely off the top of my head, also considering the impact on the game and importance of that game, I'd have to say:

Gordon's Game 1, 9th inning smash off of Familia
Correa's missed grounder in Game 5 vs the Astros
Cain scoring from 1st on the single by Hosmer
Hosmer scoring from 3rd on Duda's errant throw
Dyson scoring from second on an infield single -- I really think that was time that the team believed it could win with its speed.
I can think of a couple of key throw outs by Perez that need to be on a list.
Davis coming back to pitch a 2nd inning after the 1 hour rain delay.
Oh gosh, I can see I'm already going down the rabbit hole....How about I buy the book?

I was one of the guys that tested the Schlitterbahn ride. This up coming list I think will top that experience.

Previous to these last two years, I had a few memorable moments.

I was there as a Junior in high school for George Brett's final home game. Seeing his victory lap around the bases. Seeing him get down on his knees to kiss home plate.

I also remember a game in early April of 2003 against the Tigers. The Royals were relevant that year and I remember Ken Harvey winning the game in extra innings with a home run. I had my 2 year old nephew with me and he absolutely loved it.

I am so looking forward to this list and remembering all these moments once again. Every time I see highlights on MLB Network I get a tear in my eye. Something tells me you'll have me bawling like a teenage girl whose boyfriend just dumped her.

This is not only a very valuable investment of your time and energy, but will be eagerly anticipated by me and the many others who love your blog and the Royals. I grew up in KC, went to college and lived in Bay Area when Sabaen took over the Giants and became a Giants fan, so the last few years - and especially last year - have been the best ever for me. And then 2015 happened. I'm officially spoiled. This is icing on the cake.

Sweeney left... He played for Oakland, Seattle and Philly... But, point well taken!

If Gordo retires after this contract, he'll have a statue!

I'm confused - so does this mean your back on the Royals blogging horse? I'm cool with that, bit last time I'd checked in you were basically signing off.

Think of all the additions/editing that will be required after the upcoming 2016 championship season. You, my friend, are born to this calling.

Even though you have slowed down on the blogging for your own personal reasons, I still log on here everyday awaiting another entry. Looking for some insight into the Royals. So I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for your posts on the Top 218 Memories.

Well Rany,

I see you have redone your blog. The revisions look good and you've added images!

I also see you're pretty much blowing away every other Royals "moments" list on the web (pretty much every KC Royals blog has one). I look forward to your list because it's destined to become an encylopedia of the last two seasons for future generations of Royals fans.

I was at the game with the Dyson throw with seats in middle level up from 3rd base. I knew Dyson had a chance to nail him, but it took a near-perfect throw and perfect execution by Moose and couldn't have been in a bigger spot. I always wonder if you go back and take out just one play like that does the whole ball of string unravel.

Yes! Rany, make this a book. Get sun woo involved. Your article on him was excellent and touching. Easy no brainier. I was in your section for the playoff clincher in Chicago. One of my favorite nights ever.
