I finished another book the other day - Not Without My Daughter - by Betty Mahmoody and William Hoffer. It is about a lady who takes her daughter and goes with her husband to visit his family in Iran for 2 weeks and ends up being held there against her will. The only way she can get out of the country is if he says so and he doesn't want to go back to America even though he lived there for a number of years and seemed happy. So, she's trapped and her life becomes a nightmare. The book describes her time in Iran and how she fights to get out. Everywhere she turns, though, she is told to leave her daughter behind and just flee herself. But she won't go without her daughter (hence the name). And in the end, after a year and a half long struggle, she is finally able to get back to the US with her daughter.
There is also a movie that was made - entitled Not Without My Daughter - starring Sally Field. It was based on the book and is very good - however, the book is much more descriptive and detailed.
