Puff Pastry is the furthest thing from vegan, unless they sell vegan puff pastry somewhere through the miracles of levening science, but butter and LOTS of it are what causes puff pastry to "puff". Puff Pastry is flour, water, and baking powder folded with freezing cold butter to make micro layers of dough that gets the equivalent of fried when it bakes. Delicious but unfortunately vegan resistant.

You are correct my dear, normally its not at all vegan! BUT Pepperidge Farm Frozen Puff Pastry IS miraculously vegan! Yay! and it's way less hassle than making it yourself.

What an awesome vegan remake of classic comfort food. I've been meaning to make this type of savory pie for a while. Thanks for the recipe!
