We ARE working with both CABA and NCATA. In fact, we are meeting with DOT/DMV on March 29th and reps from both CABA and NCATA will join us. The image you suggested we had instead used on our billboard, of a driver safely passing a cyclist, would have been completely ineffective as the message it was trying to convey was not clear. Our billboard has gotten more attention than we ever expected (nationwide, people are asking if they can use the same image in their state/city), therefore, the image accomplished exactly what we had hoped it would: It got people's attention. By the way, NCDOT issued a press release on March 15, the day after they agreed to meet with us to discuss how to increase the safety of cyclists in NC (which came about only after repeated email messages from The Adam Little Foundation to the Governor, DOT Secretary and DMV Commissioner) saying that DOT is now leading an effort to develop a new statewide bicycle and pedestrian plan... https://apps.dot.state.nc.us/pio/releases/details.aspx?r=6190

Too bad "Baby On Board" doesn't seem to coincide with "I'm Not Going To Drive Like A Moron." If you have a baby on board, shouldn't you, perhaps, not be speeding, tailgating, failing to use signals, and running stop signs?

The main issue I have with cycling advocacy in general is that most of the cyclists I see on the roads are not well-behaved. They don't ride single-file, they don't use hand signals, they don't have proper mirrors, they run stop signs and stop lights, they pass stopped lanes of traffic on the right... These are the same people that have kilobuck road bikes, dress in full skintight racing garb, etc.

I have no problem being polite to cyclists, but I can't help thinking there's an end of the deal that many of them are not holding up.
