I often thought about trying an animated short with one character in one shot and actually went so far as to record a couple of monologues. I just didn't have the time at the time to give it the attention it deserved. It's still a good idea.
Animated films have gotten so boring. Only trying things will enliven the medium.

Wonderful essay! A lot to think on there, well put.

And I really envy you the playgoing.
I saw "Bully!", a one man show with James Whitmore as TR, when I was a kid (I also saw him as Truman, another one man show-Whitmore excelled at them). It was great as I recall it, very touching-based on that I became fascinated with Roosevelt, also from his appearance around the same time in "The Wind and the Lion", where TR was played by Brian Keith.
Unfortunately I've read "Bully!" was a floperoo when it played Broadway.
I wonder how similar/different your production is?
