What, they didn't ask you, Mark? I guess they have a policy against inviting talentless hacks.

Dear Anonymous Troll,

Do you realize that I can't be insulted by someone I don't know? For all I know, you're living in a cardboard box under a bridge drinking aftershave. Why should I care what you say?

I'm going to keep removing your spam not because I'm insulted but because I don't want to waste other people's time reading and possibly responding to it. After all, trolls just want attention and after this response, you're not going to get any more from me.

If you have a beef with me, identify yourself and state your gripe directly. Otherwise, get a life. The fact that you waste so much time and energy writing useless comments says a lot more about you than it does me. If this is something that occupies your day, you lead a very dull life. And when I see the level of your comments, I understand why. You're boring.

Every comment and email of yours that I delete provides me with a laugh, so if you must continue doing this, go ahead. But know that I'm not sitting here crying into my keyboard, I'm shaking my head over your lack of ambition and the intellectual and emotional poverty of your life.

Unfortunately Mark, simply responding to an incendiary comment in ANY manner is often enough to stoke a troll's fire. The #1 rule of dealing with internet trolls is, "don't feed the trolls." It's best to simply delete the comment without responding, leaving them to eternally wonder if their efforts were fruitful in getting your goat.

I think I speak for the majority of people who visit your blog when I say that your posts and opinions on animation and the animation market are a boon to us all. Keep up the good work!

Hey Mark,

Just to let you know, I've got my own Anonymous Troll too! I consider it a badge of honor - a sign of hitting the Big Time.

I wonder if he can be trained to do the gardening and take out the trash?
