Hmm.. the bee's reaction to nectar clearly implies alcoholism, despite the constant reference to it as an "allergy". Perhaps it was just too 'adult' a subject for Disney at this point.
This is certainly following the style of Kinney's Goofy films - were they attempting to appeal more to adults, do you suppose? And this 'modern', grown-up trend was finally dropped as 'non-Disney'?

Thad has posted about Plight of the Bumblebee, a Mickey Mouse cartoon from the early '50s that was animated, but never finished. Included in Thad's post is the pencil test, something I've never seen before.
