holy crap - that is interesting news on the advertising side. I really hope that youtube becomes as powerful a means as you describe for animators.

It is very hard (as you know since you have created an original show!) to get the stuff out there - there is just not that many places to take your work and ideas.

Now if only YouTube could make their compressed videos less crappy. I cannot stand the quality of the movies shown. That's why I haven't put anything up on that site. Yet.

Hey Mark,
That's a brilliant assessment. Once again, you're spot on. We're really at the dawn of a new age in entertainment. Just like in the days of Vaudeville, people (and now properties) will be plucked from the internet "stage" and be mass marketed. Great insights.

I love this post. It's totally inspiring. I hope very much that this prophecy comes true, and soon!

On the quality tip: there are alternatives to YouTube that might be worth checking out. I just started using blip.tv and have found it much better in terms of video quality, though not as easy to navigate. And I think they may already have a voluntary advertising model in place, like the one YouTube is planning to add.

Actually, the quality is only as good as what is uploaded.

Unfortunately, YouTube recommends 320 X 240 in the DivX format.

if you upload it at a higher quatlity, 720 X 480 in an Animation codec, the quality is much better. Not perfect, but a lot better.
