As simple and insignificant as a faucet may
seem, it is one of the most important and useful fittings in our living spaces.
The humble faucet is often overlooked while its surroundings are appreciated
and cooed over. We think it’s time to dedicate a post to faucets, their beauty
and their function. Below, we throw light on some avant-garde yet functional
faucets that will not just demand your attention every time you step in front
of them but will also add style and sophistication to your spaces! Flirt with them, for a bit.
SKIDOO by TEUCO
[Image]
Sleek and stylish,
the Skidoo faucet collection from Teuco adds a new angle to your bathroom with
its sharp and smooth structural element. It’s adherence to the typical faucet
shape makes the design effortlessly classy. An additional hand held shower
exudes a similar vibe and complement its delicate control lever. For those who
do not want to seem excessively picky, this is a subtly upscale faucet.
PAVATI by SALMON NORTIE
[Image]
Truly inspired by
the fluid nature of water, the Pavati faucet is an ultra-modern design that can
comfortably complement any bathroom. Pavati
has different hot and cold columns that bend to create a Y shape. As the water
exit from each column, they blend together, creating an exquisite hand-washing
experience. Designed by Salmon Nortie, the Pavati can be installed with simple
tools in most standard basins.
VIRGO by BONOMI[Image]
Good Design Award winner in 2012,
the Virgo faucet designed by Brian Sironi is inspired by the inner biology of
our homes - pipes. Suggestive of a vertically
fixed pipe ending abruptly, Virgo is controlled from the top, creating a sleek,
unified shape. An outstanding feature of the Virgo is that the water flows in
line with the top of the faucet, forming a singular line parallel to its base.
It can be mounted on the floor, wall or deck and looks stunning in all three
positions.
AXOR STARCK by
HANSGROHE
[Image]
Another design
inspired by water, the Axor Starck faucet collection adopts an organic free
flowing form, combining the mixer and handle into one. Designed by PhilippeStark for Hansgrohe, the Axor Starck line of hardware can be wall and deck mounted and also
has bidet, tub and shower fittings to maintain the flow. Its minimalist,
streamlined design complements traditional as well as contemporary style
settings. AMETIS by GRAFF
[Image]
Another designer
who took inspiration from water and waves, Davide Oppizzi has created the
Ametis faucet with an unusual silhouette that is sure to get your attention.
The fluid form of the Ametis is combined with a lever around an LED ring that
changes color to indicate the temperature of the water. The faucet’s lean lines
and gently rounded edges complement its matte finish creating a futuristic aesthetic
that is hard to ignore. Available in deck and wall-mounted styles, the Ametis by Graff comes in chrome, dramatic black and contemporary white
finishes.
FOLD by CERAMICA
FLAMINIA
[Image]
Designer Lorenzo
Damiani saw beauty in flaw when taking inspiration from bent chrome pipes. And
what an eye for aesthetic, considering the Fold faucet is truly a beauty set
apart by its unconventional shape, adding a lot of quirkiness to its
surroundings. The Fold collection by Ceramica Flaminia includes faucets, towel paper holders and
towel bars; all of which are independently capable of letting out a gasp from
surprised visitors.
WATER BALL
RIPPLES by SMITH NEWNAM
[Image]
Clearly inspired
by surface ripples, this revolutionary design by Smith Newman creates a strong
visual relationship between ripples and light. The Ripples faucet is an
electronically secured ball on a frosted glass surface. Water pressure is
controlled by moving the ball in and out from the center while the water
temperature is controlled by moving it around. The temperature of water is indicated
by the red or blue light on the surface, adding an aura of mystery to the
not-so-prepared user. A great design to pamper yourself with, the Ripples faucet
is developed by touch 360 and is still in its concept stage. This interactive
design has the potential to open a whole new approach to faucets for the
future.
PHILO by TREEMME
[Image]
Breaking the
conventional shape of a faucet, the Philo collection by Treemme has a wire-like
appearance, likely to make you wonder where the water is possibly going to come
from. Designed by Gianluca Belli, this faucet is environmentally friendly in
function. It provides a wider surface for larger water flow, thus reducing the
consumption of water over all. The collection includes bath faucets and shower
heads and is available in various finishes and sizes. RING by ST
RUBINETTERIE
[Image]
We love the
colors and simple ergonomic shape of the mixer in this St Rubinetterie design. A very versatile design, the ring is ideal for
use by all ages and can fit very well in any room, be it the kids bathroom, the
powder room or just the common wash basin. Its non-dominant design makes it an
easy blend in modern and classical surroundings without losing impact. The sleek
wall mounted and deck mounted options add a subtle hint of style and can create
just the effortlessly stylish look most people want in their spaces. e-VISION Faucet
by JADO
[Image]
Created by
Artefakt design house for Jado, the e-Vision digital faucet features a flat touch
panel display which can be used for controlling the faucet. It is perfect for
bath since it allows you to program your bath settings - the flow, temperature
and volume. Its futuristic,
top-of-the-art look adds an innovative edge to the most basic bathrooms. Available
as sink, shower and bathtub fixtures, the only thing you’ll miss with this
collection is the rare occassion when you step into a cold shower and run out
screaming slang.
