Excellent letter and I'm sorry too, but Calvin, many of these leaseholders acted quite casual about these very serious matters of placing an industrial park on thier land. No impacts, no problems, all upside, no liabilities the wind company told me so - hook, line and sinker. Unfortunately, all the swift talk and promises from wind development salespeople does not change the real liability these property owners have willingly incurred. If turbine #43 is causing a problem or damages, guess who gets the judgement and resulting lien? The property owner of turbine #43. What we warned about and no one wanted to listen was that the leaseholder contract did not prevent landowner liability, just the opposite, it tied to the landowner. Blame the town? They aren't responsible for damages that a property owner creates either. If I were considering to lease my property for something like this there would have been two things in my contract - First, a performance bond. Second, any lien or judgement related to the industrial park, would be considered breach of contract and collection of the bond.

Another mess caused by local town board members - completely out of their league. They should have stuck to painting the town hall, not making key decisions on large scale industrial parks.
