The UK's strict regulations and high taxes are the underlying problem here. Economics 101 is that businesses need to make a profit to employ people and survive. Thus, business will go to places (such as the US) where it is easier and more profitable to do business. The economic crisis will be more painful for those economies which have these cumbersome requlations and high taxes. This is simple common sense.
