I have owned property in Prattsburgh at the highest point in Steuben County since 1982. Three years ago I went to a town meeting in Little Italy re: windmill development. At least 75 people attended to protest the projects. The Windmill Companies divided the community. Now in Prattsburgh and Cohocton bears have been let go locally to scare the people. Now land is being sucked up for all types of reasons to force the land owners to have no choice but to sell out or be forced out. Every year, Absentee owners come to vacation and pump millions of dollars into the local economies. And, now the Windmill companies swoop in to take advantage of the locals who simply wish to live in the serene, woodsy area,or,vacation until retirement and bring many more dollars from outside the County to the area. This is a SHAM of the most disturbing kind. I thought this was America, not a communist takeover of immense proportions. I say revolt. Lawsuuit and legal action will only slow the eventual take over of all of the land. Why not give the Towns a Facelift, encourage new busineses to open and eateries, with a plan like Victor for home ownership and new home Development? This is pure and simple a 'Land Grab' by tricksters to deter land ownership and enjoyment of the beautiful country. Some of the last remaining privacy in the country.
