I'm always somewhat astonished at how well The Munsters holds up as an entertainment. Clearly of its time, it's like the monster movies which inspired it also timeless. That makes Fred Gwynne in a way also timeless.

Rip: I didn't miss an episode of The Munsters or The Addams Family during their first run. The Munsters was one of the more campy TV shows that proliferated during than period. Even as a young Monster Kid, I liked The Addams Family more for its morbid humor, and later for its usually sharp scripting and a better acting ensemble.
