I had the Frankenstein and the Mummy as a very young child... they came from a "gum-ball machine" and were "gold" not silver were these a secondary release of these rings...???
I don't recall seeing any in gold, they were always in silver. Maybe it was a regional thing? Anway, the two sets I came across were silver, so it's unlikely the colors "weathered off" on both. Would be interested in seeing an image of a gold one, thought. Maybe one will turn up...
it came from the "gum-ball" machine art the bowling lanes in 1967 or 8 ....

Seen for sale on eBay are a set of the 1960s Universal Monsters "Vari-Vue" flicker toy rings. Sold individually, the prices range from $125 to $250.
Not the best images reproduced here, but enough to give the reader a taste of vintage Monster Kid Creature Culture nonetheless. As Forry might say: "A scene right out of My Fiend Flicker!"
Another dealer is selling the group as a set for $900.

CAPTAIN COMPANY sold a set of flicker rings in the pages of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND. This looks like a different set altogether. The price is right, too.
