A movie herald and a 1960s movie re-issue poster for Universal's FRANKENSTEIN are among the items listed in an upcoming auction from Heritage of Dallas, TX.

The herald is notable for its condition and the poster for its scarcity. Both are indicative of FRANKENSTEIN's enduring popularity since it was first screened in 1931.

Frankenstein (Universal, 1931). Herald (8.25 X 10. 5").

It's always a thrill when anything turns up from this legendary picture, and this prized herald will certainly generate buzz amongst collectors. The piece is simply dynamite, a miniature poster in its own right! The Monster in Mary Shelley's novel seems to have been made for then-unknown actor Boris Karloff, who emphatically made the part his own. To this day, eight decades after the film was released, Karloff's image is recognized around the world. The herald measures 10.5" X 16.5" when opened flat. Restoration has addressed edge tears, a tear in the bottom border, several extra folds, a small split where it was folded, and two pinholes in the background. There is still some discoloration in Mae Clark's dress. Fine+.

Rarely seen but well appreciated by horror film poster aficionados, this is the spectacular full length image of Boris Karloff as the Monster in garish green and black for a 1960s re-release. Touchup to the folds and a small chip in the top left corner. Very Fine on Linen.
