After Warren pulled the plug on FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND in 1983 (which lasted an amazing 191 issues), Forrest J Ackerman wasn't done publishing monster magazines.With a cover date of February, 1985 (the indicia indicates December, 1984), and keeping the old FM logo, Ackerman landed a new publisher to continue his love of monsters.
MONSTERLAND is a bit of a mishmash of using both old and new horror films, and somehow, it seemed a bit off. Still, there's plenty here to immerse the reader in some fine monster fare. Unfortunately, Ackerman's stint with the 'zine only lasted for 9 issues, and he departed after having disagreements with publisher Schuster (maybe over the content?).
