I'm basically an incrementalist. The first step is to build a broad coalition of Democrats that can take back the White House and increase its majority in Congress.

True, Bush has been a disaster in multiple ways and the concensus appears to be forming already that he is the worst President the U.S. has had in its 220 year history (and it happened in our lifetimes!).

But each Congressman must worry about his local district that includes many marginally involved and unaware people. Right now there is a political dance going on to make them aware but not allienate these people.

The only way to stop an administration that is "above the law" is to replace it. Yes, the courts will eventually curtail its arrogance but we cannot wait that long.

After the Democrats are in, then the next battle begins - who will win the policy fights within the party. I think that withdrawal from Iraq will be obvious then and hopefully universal healthcare as well no matter who is the Democratic President.
