Interesting. If I ever take an economics class I'll be sure to immediately bid $99. Then I automatically get one cent and no one else is likely to be dumb (or petulant) enough to try to outbid me. Unless Grishnash is there.

And I guess that's a lesson for this war too: if we had started with more troops, we stood a chance of winning. Adding more troops now is seems to be nothing more than closing the barn door.

ML, I assume you meant 99 cents. Of course, it's "reasonable" to bid $1, since that's no loss and the other bidder has to pay up...
