Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it this way. A terrorist's goal = create terror. They must have been laughing their asses off seeing little girls have to give up their tinkerbell lip glosses.
We're not even consistent on how scared we are, though. I know that some airports are donating the items dumped at the airport to the homeless. Which essentially means that they're almost 100% confident that there are no harmful substances masquerading as personal hygiene products in this batch... But yet, they're still confiscating it....

Remember when I said our reaction to the foiled terrorist plot was overblown? Apparently, I'm not the only one. Sullivan links to Kung Fu Monkey, who expresses similar sentiments: I am absolutely buffaloed by the people who insist I man up and take it in the teeth for the great Clash of Civilizations -- "Come ON, people, this is the EPIC LAST WAR!! You just don't have the stones to face that fact head-on!" -- who at the whiff of an actual terror plot will, with no apparent sense of irony, transform and run around shrieking, eyes rolling and Hello Kitty panties flashing like Japanese schoolgirls who have just realized that the call is coming from inside the house!
