Please. More like "not fighting." UN Peacekeeping forces have a terrible record in that region of... doing... anything at all. Even before Bush decided to destroy the pull we once had at the UN.
I really hope the international force idea can be implemented, but only if it can be effectively done. And currently even "ineffective" seems more than can be hoped for. No one wants to volunteer, as you say, since they know what a big job it will be, and Hezbollah has already announced that it won't accept such a solution.
I agree that it is highly unlikely that any international force will do the serious fighting necessary to defeat and disarm Hezbollah.

People talk about an international force in Lebanon. I think that would be better plan than what's been going on there recently, but I'm a bit skeptical about its prospects. Won't it just either be a sitting duck for Hezbollah guerilla attacks, or end up as "collateral damage" from Israeli airstrikes, or end up fighting Israel's war for it? And who is going to volunteer for border duty in Lebanon? I don't hear countries clamoring to volunteer. This is yet another instance where the US probably wishes it hadn't generated so much international ill-will.
"Lebanon border duty: Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?"
