There is a View Parameter called "Hide at scales coarser than". Just select the 1/2" or 1/4" scale or so it only shows in the scales dedicated to your enlarged plans. The other option is to create a new Elevation View Type, then create a View Filter to define it from showing. My preference is to only "reference other views" in instances where the intent is replicated.

"View Filters" and "Hide at scales coarser than" are great suggestions for marks that would only be visible in the enlarged plan. As soon as I duplicated the mark by "reference other view" for use at variable scales I had to find another solution.
