AHHHHH!!!! That's weird how they just amassed in the scanner part. And in a printer?! Every summer my parents have little black ants in their kitchen (which is understandable) but a printer?!

Since they're carrying larvae around, that means there's a queen in there. She was probably looking for a good place to start a colony, and crawled into the machine. I wouldn't be surprised if it was nice and warm in there, and dark when she found it.

Throwing the whole thing away sounds like a good move to me!
