Looks like Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis to me, a species discovered recently in India.

I think Julia's hit the nail on the head (or the frog on the nose). Googling the scientific name comes up with several photos that show a frog very similar to this. It is also known as a "purple frog." One site describes it: "The blackish-purple living fossil looks like a bloated doughnut with stubby legs and a pointy snout."
Never seen a pointy-snouted frog before (which is pretty much what the generic name means). I wonder how you say "doughnut" in Greek.
Damn, that's ugly.

My roomate's pet frog looked like that just before it died. Bloating can be a real b*tch for an amphibian that takes water-retention to a whole new level.

I'm happy that's the healthy look for this primative frogeh.

oh, and this is TOTALLY crying for a "Separated at Birth" celeb-shot. Any ideas? I'm thinking of a certain cigar-smoking conservative radio mouth-piece?

That is the oddest face I've ever seen on a frog.
