If a game doesn't work on VGA at first, always try it with a boot disc (not Utopia though, as that doesn't work with VGA) like the Dreamcast cheat discs they did on the magazines, as many times this bypasses the "computer says no" screen and lets you play in VGA anyway. I know for sure this works with Hydro Thunder, for example. Some games don't work like this either but it's extends the list out of what does work further.

I was BLOWN AWAY at the difference when I played Soul Calibur with a VGA adaptor.

Half Life looks pretty sweet as well.

You can play Hydrothunder in VGA mode by turning the DC on in TV mode, then switching to VGA mode right after the sega swirl appears on the screen.
