I was just about to write a post about it too. Got mine (regular edition) and I have to admit, I didn't like it one bit.

Maybe it's just because it's bloody difficult, or maybe the gameplay just isn't appealing, I don't know...

I should've known after playing Last Hope, but I'm pretty sure they said that Dux was going to be easier. Well, they lied.

I want to like this game, I really do, but after playing the oh so much better Wind & Water I just can't...

Wind and water really was exceptional in just how much it offered, in comparison Dux seems a little bare bones. I'd like to give this more of a chance before I write it off as way beyond my gaming abilities, I honestly have only played it the one time you saw in that video because I've been too busy otherwise. I really dig the visuals and music, though, so far.

Thanks for the video Gagaman! I'm still on the fence for Dux, even after the vid, mostly because (as you mentioned) it's a bit bare-bones.

Speaking of videos, I completed my British Shenmue video! I've yet to upload it, but once I do I'll send you a link :D

Nice vid GM. It's great to see all these new games being released on our beloved DC, even if most of them are 2D shooters. I do like the minimalist styling of DUX though, it adds a lot of charm to the game. I also really like the box and the amount of effort that's gone into this indie release is phenomenal. Good show Hucast, and good show that Gagaman

I got my hands on it yesterday, and...I like it. "Obvious" is right, this is a very streamlined, simple, no frills deal from the gameplay to the menus(which I like in a big chunky colorful kind of way) I question them simplifying the sound menu to have only three notches for the BGM and SFX volume though.

Much much easier than Last Hope, but still stupid hard for me. My biggest problem with this game though are the sound effects! Sound more than anything gives you that satisfying feel of destruction, like the unrealistic SMACK of hitting an opponent in KoF or the ass-shaking explosions in Psyvrariar 2. When I blow up some pastel monstrosity and get a *tink* or something, it just reinforces "hey, you're playing a videogame".

That said, I do like the toy-like graphics and the music is very nice too, but does anyone else think it's utter suicide to detach the Force from your ship? I could get away with that in R-Type but you're just asking for it in Dux.

Finally, I really dig how the logo is similar to the ship firing the Blue laser powerup. Thanks for the video GagaMan!

Strange. Obvious action, obvious energy, a stage named Obviously Obvious...This game has an obsession with the obvious.
Would you say this was worth the 2 years of delays, since I read you guys mentioning this back in the 06, 07 archives :P

After all my whingeing, moaning and talk of boycotting this game, I watched this video and immediately had to order one... Good work Gagaman(!)

I spotted a review for DUX at Play-Asia complaining of bugs and gameplay errors. Play-Asia actually replied with this to say:

****comment Play-Asia.com: the distributor announced a patch, that we will ship to all DUX customers, once available****

So... DUX is already released as a broken game and they're patching it? Aka sending replacement discs?

The game is not exactly broken, some people are having issues with PAL Dreamcasts using RGB cables. For those with NTSC- J and US systems there is not much of an issue.

The Game does look incredible! BIG BRIGHT AND SMOOTH TEXTURED STYLE NEVER REALLY SEEN ON A DC REALLY.

Sadly, I am still waiting for the LE version of DUX!

The bug hasn't happened to me, though I am playing on a Japanese system plugged via VGA. Mind you, I've seen the bug and what it does is make the score go really high if you shoot a certain enemy on the first level. Considering how hard this game is I'd actually rather keep the bug myself, as the score going up gives you lots of lifes! XD
