Chunky! But pretty cool. Interesting the way that the GDROM works upside down...

hmm... It has the same size screen as a Treamcast... looks sort of like an oversized Nomad XD Pretty awesome, but I don't really like it much.

Hi this is the maker here. Thanks for your interest in my portable. I realize it's not the best but this was my first portable ever made so I'm proud of it. Just to clarify some things, there is enough ventilation. The fan is placed as to suck the air from underneath the DC and above it. But more importantly it sucks out the hot air the Voltage Regulator for the screen puts off. Haven't had any problems with it though.
Really nice, considering it's a home-made job where the priority is to make it work, not make it sexy. Now that you've done that, you could improve the design, though. But anyway, congratulations for a job well done :)
And Caleb, are you serious? Are you really planning to do a Dreamcast arcade cabinet? That would be awesome!
As a man who finds even the most simple techno tasks difficult I bow at the altar of this handheld!
Anything that 'bigs up' the Dreamcast in 2008 in the modding scene is alright! Good work fella!!!

Hey guys, This is the maker again. Thanks for all the comments! Yeah about the ventilation, I didn't say anything in the video but if you want to see where the fan is, it's right to the left of the VMU ports. On the bottom there. And just to let you guys know, this uses a Version 2 Dreamcast. It doesn't have the pesky GD-ROM controller board. Everything plugs right into the MOBO. Also for any of you wondering I used a Pico Psu for power.
After reading the forum topic, did we really come across as a bit harsh with our comments? I can't fix up the few broken Dreamcasts I have, let alone make a handheld out of one, so I hope I didn't come across as not being impressed by this. *grovel*

Nah you guys really haven't been bad. I actually enjoy reading what a lot of you guys have said because I find it more constructive criticism and more complimentary. In that post I was mainly talking about another website because all they have to say is that mine sucks and the other DCP (the White one) is so much better. So thanks everyone on here for their comments!
Good find - it's a pretty cool looking contraption..although why the guy chose to use Slave Zero to show it off is beyond me!

A rather boxy portable Dreamcast.
It looks pretty good. With a little work to protect the insides and maybe add some more ventilation this could be a sweet little unit.
I actually have a PS one screen that I was considering modifying to use on my Dreamcast. But I am lazy. A Dreamcast custom arcade cabinet is gonna be my next project.

Not as sexy as that one we saw a few years ago but still impressive. Someone really really needs to make one with a VMU slot on it. though.

"one with a VMU slot on it"
This does have a VMU slot on the bottom. Or do you mean a VMU slot where you can see the VMU?

Sorry, I couldn't see that from the video.

Ah yes, I was watching this without sound before so I didn't hear him mention the VMU ports in it.

"I used a Pico Psu for power."
Oh! Crafty!
Do you have a website or blog where you have pictures of the construction or anything?

Well the closest I have to a blog is on the Website Benheck.com It's not really a blog but it has a bunch of pictures in there. Here is the link.
