I LOVE THE DREAMCAST ;_;

Okay, so stuff like 18 Wheeler (all 30 minutes of it) makes the list but excellent games like 4 Wheel Thunder and F1 World Grand Prix II are nowhere to be found? On the plus side, if you've ever played 'Big Rigs' on the PC, a game like 18 Wheeler suddenly doesn't seem so bad.

Amazing list!

I wish I was able to do something special for 9/9/09 but it just wasn't in the stars.

Gagaman - your endeavours deserve massive respect. Truly the longest post ever at the 'Yard, and you obviously put hours of effort into the whole 'top 100' thang. I salute you! I read the whole thing and I was actually getting quite excited by the mid 20s because I had no idea which game would come out on top! Quite impressed that some of the more 'minor' games got into the top 100 too - gems like Revolt and Star Wars Racer rightly got a mention. I agree with Ryo too though - F1WGP and 4 Wheel Thunder should've been there...but hey. It's votes that count!

Top stuff GM!

An honorable mention must go to the great games that didn't make the Top 100 despite being far more deserving than the likes of D2, Dynamite Cop, PenPen Tricelon and Zombie Revenge.

4 Wheel Thunder
Confidential Mission
Demolition Racer
Elemental Gimmick Gear
F1 World Grand Prix II
Looney Tunes Space Race
NFL Blitz 2001
NHL 2K2
Ooga Booga
Project Justice
Sega Marine Fishing
StarLancer
Tokyo Highway Challenge 2
Vanishing Point
Wetrix+

Yeah, very well done GagaMan(n).
It always surprises me when sonic adventure outdoes it's sequel, personally I thought the second was the more enjoyable of the two, but hey ho the votes show people think otherwise.
All I've had time to do today is play a bit of Rayman 2.

I agree with A Moomontroll when it comes to the Sonic games. I much prefer SA2 (how cool is that tune during Sonic's first stage?!), but like he said - it's votes that count. Going to Mike's comment...where the FUCK was Star Lancer, people?! Truly a forgotten gargantuan! Saying that, every game on Mike's list is decent. I demand a recount!!! If Bush can do it, then so can we!

Sorry, Moomintroll - I spelt it wrong in my last comment. Furthermore, seeing that Gagaman has laid the entire decent DC catalogue down in it's entirety, are my views on the recently purchased Kao the Kangaroo now redundant?!

It's pretty amazing just how many great games missed the top 100 (many mentioned were somewhere in the top 200, for example)and yet the top 100 is crammed full of greatness too. It's say something about the quality to quantity ratio of DC games, don't it?

What a truly epic and worthy post Gagaman(n)! Congratulations on the poll, it's magnificent... and I'm thrilled to see that my beloved Shenmue is in it's rightful place at the top! (Although where was the love for Confidential Mission?)

Respect to you for all the work you put in. Happy, 9.9.09!

There are no injustices on the list - everyone was eligible to vote in the poll. If games have been left out it's because they didn't get enought votes!

The list is great and the article is amazing. Thanks for doing this!

I just can't believe Illbleed is only 88 though. I guess it was too weird for some. One of my favorite memories from the ihaveadreamcast 1/19 marathon was battling the demon sonic in a state of exhaustion near the end of the 24 hours.

As I said on MSN, great article (dizzying amount of work put into it, it seems), got a few chuckles, (always a good thing!), and rather suprised by the number one spot. :P

Great read.

Gman, you are god. That has to be one of the best tributes I've ever seen to any console, and just thinking about the time and effort you put into it makes my head spin.

Congratulations are also due to the many fans who voted, who raised their voices from the silence and stood up to participate in this.

I think it's safe to say that the Dreamcast top 100 was a massive success :)

Man, I've been checking out some Youtube Top *Insert Number* Dreamcast Games and surprisingly this is one of the few lists that doesn't feature Soul Calibur at it's number 1. DCJY staff, pat yourself in the back, you did a great job. With the list, not with the fact that Soul Calibur wasn't voted the number 1 game. Oh and also: Happy Freaking Birthday Sega Dreamcast! Great page - given me lots of ideas for games to go hunting for to boost my collection.

Just one thing - PLEASE learn the difference between "Its" and "It's". "It's" only EVER means "It is".

Haha, I did rush out the article quite a bit so there are bound to be grammar errors here and there.

As for Sonic Shuffle: don't blame me, I didn't vote for it! :D

Shooting games may seem violent but actually it enhances strategic concentration. A better way of venting without harming anyone but the computer screen.

This poll is not just a wonderful tribute to the ultimate-gamer's-console but extremely useful too! I thought I knew a lot about the Dreamcast's library but quite a few of the games were new to me. It's also very interesting to see the relative popularity of the games, and the fact that some 'obscure' titles are better known than I expected.

too bad all the sheep bought ps2's instead, as if that could somehow be justified by the content of the console. I wonder if the DC had dvd playback in addition to its headstart and vastly superior (especially considering its short lifespan) library of games, things would have been different. Sega should have been exalted above all console makers and game designers. Who knows how many of these games would have had legacies that far outshine those of our current generic FPS heavy gamescape. EVEN MY RPG'S TODAY ARE SHOOTERS!!! oh well. (ofc its not that i don't like shooters, but sheesh)

My favorite game on the Dreamcast is obviously not a popular game but it is Suzuki Allstare Extreme Racing. I love the quest to place number 1 to get to the next set of 3 tracks and the physics are comical and can be very forgiving, allowing driving up walls for a short period period without wrecking. Also, the speed really does seem extreme.

Sonic Adventure beats SA2 because it was first, it was revolutionary, it brought Sonic back to stay.
Shenmue was so different, such a paradigm shift it changed gaming. From coining the phrase and popularizing QTEs (Quick Time Events), to the "lived in" feel of the towns, to the mundanity of buying and drinking a soda or having a forklift job.
While it was a financial failure it cannot be overstated how influential this game was to gaming's future.

Looking back, why didn't I buy those Samba De Amigo controllers when they went on sale? I had the chance. Missed opportunity.
I have always wanted to play this game. Had the knock-off controllers that didn't really work so didn't get a great experience.

Also should've picked up a modded DC console from Lik Sang before Sega Europe killed them.
