A regular vasantatilakA would have a meter like this: 22121112112122, 2 representing guru and 1 representing laghu sound. In the meter you give, a line starts as 11 instead of 2 in the regular vasantatilakA, but the total mAtrA is the same for two types (by summing all the 1 and 2) . So that may be why Conze says it is an “irregular vasantatilakA.” There might be a sanskrit name fort this irregular type but I searched without success.

I have some more tools on sanskrit meter that I can share with you, including how to chant most sanskrit meters. But I have trouble writing emails to you. So if you can email me, pls do.
