Thought you might be interested to hear that two of the Pali words that baffled the above mentioned orientalists have retained the same meanings in Sinhalese.

Pada = words
Paada = feet
Chakra = circle
Vahu = bull (in Vahu petiya = calf)

Thanks. As you may know Sinhala is an Indo-European language so it should have many of these similar words. It also has many loan words from Pāli.
