Sadhu! - well done on the new personal pic on your site. I'd say that in your new look you seem companionable, interesting and maybe even compassionate (if a photo can convey that)... hey, maybe even wise! (but perhaps I'm just going a little too far) but I bet you'd be an interesting guy to talk to at Padmaloka, in fact you look so good I'm even sending you an FWBO metta-hug. I must say though Jayarava - you barely look like the same person. How many years did the transformation from the 70s 'bad haircut' look to the 90's bad beard' look actually take? We MUST be told!

That old photo was taken in the last days of my ordination retreat in 2005 - about mid July? It wasn't so much a haircut as a stage in not having haircuts. I haven't had a haircut since then, and the beard started about 3 or 4 months ago. My friend in NZ thought I looked like Colonel Sanders... not quite what I had in mind. More kinda Frank Zappa really. I realised some time ago that I wasn't ever going to be a monk, and that going around with a buzz cut wasn't fooling anyone, least of all me - hence the hairy phase.

I haven't been invited to give a talk at Padmaloka yet... I don't know why. I do like talking though ;) Now that my RSI has calmed down a bit I hope to get back to writing some more raves - which could well turn into talks. I went to a series of lectures by Richard Gombrich this year and they gave me a number of good ideas!
