Why did Kobe deserve blame for ANYthing regarding that "rape" charge? Yes, maybe he oughtn't to have followed the invitation from that slut, but that's all.

Hey Culturist John, I had not seen any of your posts prior to today...

Well just like Pastorius I am a hard core, life long Lakers fan...

Some other interesting "cultural" facets to Kobe:

Speaks perfect Italian and I just found out communicates with Pau Gasol in Spanish during the games!!!

Named after Kobe Steak from Japan, where his dad apparently played or lived for a time.

Moreover, compared to other players you do not get the 15 "you know" within the span of one sentece, he is quite articulate & even philosophical. (Phil the Zen Master's influence is quite pronounced here)

Great post....

CJ,
You make great points. I have also long been an admirer of Kobe. And, I agree that the Lakers were right to get rid of Shaq, and I SAID SO AT THE TIME.

Your point about Kobe even being analytical/critical when he wins and succeeds is probably the best point in this great essay.

it is that quality which has made me love the American Tradition (excellence, achievement, innovation) and it is the same quality which makes me admire the Jews.

Carlos,

Glad I got your attention with this topic!

Pastorious,

I was sorry to see Shaq go. Finals to not making the playoffs. Boom. I would like to think we're reaping the benefits right now. But I wish we could have all gotten along and kept him for another year or two.

GOOooooOOO LAKERS !!!!!!
