This may get a lot of attention because of the hints of nazi, but I recall similar calls to boycott businesses with Danish connections during the Cartoon Wars.

For that matter, both during the build up to the election and after, there have been a string of boycott calls in California relating to Prop 8 - gay rights groups call for boycotts on the businesses of people who supported it, while christian groups call for boycotts on the businesses of people who opposed it. Both sides then accuse the other of blackmail.

Boycotting is an accepted form of protest - the only issue here is that of punishing individuals for an action they had nothing to do with, just a vague religious tie to. Incompetence, but that's all.

Jew-hatred has rotted the brains of Europeans to the point that they can not even process the idea that they are following right in the footsteps of their elders.

Damien -- I do agree with that. Time (soon, I fear) will tell for sure.

Suricou Raven -- I respectfully disagree. Boycotting is an accepted form of protest BUT when you are targeted because of your religion and for that reason only it crosses a line. Taken with all the other now overt anti-semitism it is more than a trend or protest. The Danish protests were no more okay than these. In both cases the hint (more than a hint) of violence was there.

Epa -- and they should throw them a big double boner on the way.

And burn the union cards on the steps of the nearest mosque.

So I read here that Mohammedan leaders apologized to the archbishop of Milan for demonstrating and praying (to satan) in front of the cathedral. Does anyone here doubt that these same liars are capable of sacking and burning this same cathedral while sodomizing and forcing the cardinal to swear allegiance to allah if they could? Absolutely outrageous comments on my part, but none the less I believe this.

Damien, though I like you're thinking and wish you were right these whackjobs REVERE death in the name of Allah. They revere it so much they let their children die for Allah first in front of them. I'm afraid Israel can't just beat them, it must annihilate them for it to stop. But then the next group will come along, from Lebanon or Pakistan or Afghanistan or from right next door.

That's not entirely true. Most of them value their own lives far more then they let on. For one thing, non of the big wigs like Osama bin ladin or Yasser Arafat have become a suicide bombers, and as far as I know, none of the Imams have chosen too as well, although they do support it. Plus there have been many occasions when Jihadists have had an opportunity to fight to the death for Allah and instead fled for their lives. When out gunned many of them seem to prefer to live another day rather become suicide bombers or fight to the death.

Well of course Bin Laden and Nasralleh and Haniyeh et al wouldn't be suicide bombers they are FAR too important. Every good Jihadi knows that. Someone has to stay behind to teach the children to run in front of mom & dad and protect them from the evil Israeli gunfire, to run to the roof and stop the evil Zionist warbirds, to pull the ripcord in the crowded messhall tent.

You are absolutely correct. Many flee as cowards in the face of firepower, won't take anyone on man to man, and condemn that overwhelming firepower UNTIL it is their firepower in the form of a rocket at a kindergarden or Senior home or a ripcord in a tent or carbomb at a Kibbutz.

Problem is they run and come back to fight again. Which is why I don't think an asswhoopin' will actually scare them into stopping. I just overstated my case a bit.

Damien -- I'm with ya! Take 'em out in the fucking alley and show them how we do things 'round here. Right -- You get the pitchforks, Pasto the rope, Epa, of course, the torches and I'll bring the beer.

It may indeed act as a significant deterent. Problem is, whenever we (Israel included) finally get it up enough to get it on we go so far then let them off easy (relatively speaking) which is no way to deter of course. "Oh, we can take it again. We know they'll only go so far." Screw that say I. Kick the bastards when they're down then kick them harder still. They'd certainly do so if it were turned around.

I don't think it's cowardice on our part I really think it has more to do with our Judeo-Christian heritage. A "let's stop this nonsense" approach. Not "let's stop this nonsense and make dead sure it never happens again." Instead, we tend to show mercy on someone who's down and can no longer fight FORGETTING he's going to go back hole up heal up and come back at us.

To rough quote one of my favorite movies "Because when it looks bad, and it looks like you're not going to make it, then you have to get mean. I mean Plum mad dog mean. Because if not, you neither win nor live. That's just the way it is." -The Outlaw Josey Wales

That's kinda where we're at now. And we don't seem to collectively have the meanness we need to get through this. I've no doubt you do, Pasto does, Epa, Revere, Travis, IBA does. But the west as a whole? No. We better find it in a goddam hurry. And when That One finally gets in there. . . (the shit's already talking about sitting down with Hamas)

Actually, you could argue that during WW2 our society was significantly more Christian than it is now, for example, some states had laws banning the teaching of evolution, as well as prayer in public schools across the nation, people took the church's ethical code more seriously then they do now, and we had a president talking openly about God, without fear of being accused of violating the separation of church and state, yet we were much more willing, to defend ourselves and stand up for our culture back then, then we are now. Did it have something to do with the enemy we were facing or was it that we changed in someway, other than just becoming less religious in general?

Friday, January 09, 2009 6:44:00 am

Blogger midnight rider said...

Agreed. The enemy we were facing was far more open about it, far more in your face ( at least to the masses as a whole). Islam is more insidious (jihad by litigation) AND we didn't have the media working against us as much then. Also we plain had more respect for each other. "Sir" "Ma'am" "Miss" was more commonplace and not politically incorrect. You tipped your hat to the lady and still CALLED them a lady without fear of human resources intervention, held the door for her or anyone else for that matter (all of which I still do whether H.R. likes it or not. And thus far, after 20+ years at the same place, not a complaint). We were more genteel and not screaming in each others faces trying, not to be heard, but to make sure the other wasn't heard (Alan Colmes is a great example). It allowed us to pull together to face a known threat.

We've lost much of our open Christianity to be sure and I blame alot of that on the boomers (I'm one myself) and the 60's. Peace love and all that. Which doesn't make pressing the issue any easier when they're comning at us. Now they scream to stop when we gave them a bloody nose, let alone when they're down. And we acquiecse. We don't have the meanness, the stomach for the full bloody fight. Bloody knuckles bothers the Starbucks crowd.

The boomers were spoiled and they've spoiled Gen X & Gen 911 even more so.

The Judeo-Christian thing is part of our DNA now, and the screaming left feeds on that subconscious. The mercy we would normally show only becomes amplified just to keep the fucking peace at home. get back in time for American Idle.

Maybe I should put it this way. During World War II we weren't afraid to show our Christianity. And we weren't yet a superpower. The war MADE us that, but not going in.

Now we are and I think sometimes our leaders feel the need, since we are arguably the only one, to pull our punches. Which is just asking to get cold cocked.

G'night my friend. I'll gladly pick this up tomorrow but it's real late thirty here & work in too few hours.

'They' are also planning similar measures in the UK - writing supposedley 'polite' letters to prominent British Jews asking them to denounce Israel or face the threat of a Judenboykott. It speaks volumes that it is not businesses that trade with Israel that are being targeted in this way, rather Jews themselves.

And the vermin, and their vermious enablers, have the temerity to say that the current situation has nothing to do with religion.

Damien is correct regarding the perception that Israel must be seen to have given hamas a f***ing good kicking. 'They' hate us anyway, regardless. However, it is imperative they 'they' fear our wrath.

And I'm an atheistic Darwinian. I know how the world works.

I agree, it is the Palestinians that must be condemn and the world should be even more determined to do so, since they have threaten terrorist attacks against anyone who doesn't condemn Israel. Unfortunately too many world leaders, are either cowards or want Muslim votes. There will be no peace in the middle east, until the Arab world is sent the message that any form of Jihad, is futile. Rather than condemning Israel for defending itself, it should be unleashed, and the free world should openly condemn the Palestinians. It was the Palestinians and not the Israelis who refuse to peacefully coexist, and rejected every opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately, I think you maybe correct when it comes to many Europeans. Some of them hate Jews so much that they will often side with Muslims Jihadist, against Israel, despite the fact that those same people hope to one day rule over them with an iron fist.
