Perhaps this would be considered more of an "inside joke":
Garland gunman's granmother speaks out
GARWOOD, Texas -

The grandmother of a man accused and killed in the Garland shooting incident wants the world to understand her grandson is not a terrorist.

"Whoever he was with talked to him into it," Shirley Dromgoole said.

Dromgoole, who is the maternal grandmother of Nadir Soofi, 34, learned of the death Monday."He was a good boy every time I saw him. Real responsible. Respectful,” Dromgoole said.

Soofi spent a fair amount of time in the small Colorado County town of Garwood.

His mother’s family still lives in the area.

Soofi, who was one of two men killed Sunday in what some are describing as a failed terrorist attack, was raised Muslim by his father, who is of Pakistani descent.

"I didn’t think anything of it. He didn’t make any big deal out of it. I would just try to fix stuff while he was here that he would eat," a tearful Dromgoole said.

The grandmother was convinced Monday that Soofi, who was a divorced father, was influenced by his roommate, Elton Simpson, 30.

Simpson, according to published reports, had been on the FBI’s radar for several years. Soofi had not."He tried to do good at whatever job he did. He had a good education," Dromgoole said.
