As tempting as it may be permit Darwinism it's way with the hijab on amusement park rides, common sense steps in as such foolishness brings undue risk to ALL amusement park passengers. Rye Playland played their cards correctly, keeping it's concern limited within the boundaries of concern for every patron's 'safety'.
In response to this Westchester news video clip about the Rye Playland incident, commenters reveal there is no such restriction at Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park which is confirmed in the park's online [QUOTE] DRESS CODE "In keeping with our family-friendly atmosphere, and for health and safety reasons, Six Flags strictly enforces a dress code. Proper attire must be worn at all times, including shirts and appropriate footwear. Clothing with rude, vulgar or offensive language or graphics is not permitted, and shirts cannot be turned inside-out as a solution. Bathing suits may be worn only in water park areas. Park admission may be denied if clothing is deemed by management to be inappropriate."
Wonder if 6 Flags Great Adventure's 'Dress Code' changes after this incident at Rye Playland since they too offer their own Muslim Family Day which is scheduled for September 16th from 10am to 10pm in NJ (several other 6 Flags locations offer it as well) .
Since the Six Flags web site DOES NOT mention any safety concerns about hijabs or loose fabric or headgear on amusement park rides, one might want to reconsider their patronage, on any so called "Muslim family day" events &/or in any amusement park which permits a passenger to board with loose fabric on any other day, based on the increased potential for unnecessary risks imposed by lack of well founded safety considerations. Safety first.

Somebody tell a jokeRYE — A melee broke out Tuesday afternoon at Playland Amusement Park when Muslim visitors became angry that the park was enforcing its ban on headgear by prohibiting the women from wearing their traditional head coverings on some rides.
Police from at least nine agencies converged on the park beginning at 3 p.m. after county police sought assistance in responding to the disturbance, which involved 30 to 40 people.Two rangers were injured while breaking up a fight between visitors, and two visitors were charged with felony assault, police said. Another 13 people were arrested, most charged with disorderly conduct. Names were not disclosed, and all those charged were released by Tuesday night.One of the rangers suffered an injured knee and the other an injured shoulder, said Deputy Parks[Image] Commissioner Peter Tartaglia.The park was crowded with Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of Islam’s two major holidays. Most were from community groups in Westchester and New York[Image] City as part of a daylong event arranged by the Muslim American Society of New York.
“It’s unfortunate because everybody just wants to be home with their families today,” said Zead Ramadan of the Council on American Islamic Relations.Parks officials “painstakingly” told the organizer about the headgear ban, said

But he said that the rules might not have been communicated by the organizer to some attendees.Three accidents on Playland rides that killed two children and a park worker between 2004 and 2007 were unrelated to clothing the victims were wearing. But the headgear ban was among safety rules that went into effect after those deaths.“It’s a safety issue on rides. If it’s a scarf, you could choke,” Tartaglia said.
