He hasn't been with the pastor of some over-polished holy-roller church for 20 years without learning many tricks of the trade and he is now putting them to highly effective use. His core group of supporters are hyper-emotional types in search of an equivalent of the Evangelical Christian preachers they despise, and here is the answer to their "prayers". Onward PC Soldiers. What a horrifying prospect.
(I have to keep repeating that if I vanish for a week it will be because my aged and eccentric computer is in the shop. When that happens, hopefully I will get it back in such an improved state that it won't even crash like it does now when I visit Atlas!)

Australia saw something of the same phenomenon with Kevin Rudd during the last elections, albeit in a milder form. At the risk of being howled down, my personal belief is that what we're dealing with here is a couple of generations of profoundly ignorant young people being manipulated by all the tools of the mass media, to generate a cult of personality around Obama.

Bono, the singer of U2, is a master of crowd manipulation. So are many preachers. MLK was also a genius at this.
What I'm saying is, while his style with crowds as a politician leaves him in a company of cult of personality leaders like Hitler and Mussolini, it is not true that such evil politicians are the only people who have ever used these techniques.
I worry about Obama. Something seems wrong. However, we don't really have THE smoking gun on him yet.
I keep putting these stories out because I think it is important to keep a catalogue of them. Some of them might turn out to be absolutely true.
The one story that really bothers me is that his church honors and celebrates Louis Farrakhan.

The London Times, the biggest paper in England, reports that the Clinton campaign started the "Obama is a cult" story. In today's paper, the story says,
"Clinton’s camp has been circulating stories criticising the “cult” of Obama in the hope of portraying “Obamania” as a mass delusion. Media Matters, a watchdog organisation sympathetic to Clinton, compiled a report headlined, “Media figures call Obama supporters’ behaviour ‘creepy’, compare them to Hare Krishna and Charles Manson followers”. It was forwarded by Sidney Blumenthal, a top Clinton adviser, to select reporters."
People often faint in big crowds. Youtube has video of people fainting at Hillary and Bill speeches too.

[Image] I've heard Obama referred to as a snake-oil salesman. The thing is, snake-oil salesman, like traveling Revivalist preachers, had a schtick they did everywhere they went. Often, their schtick included an "audience-member" who would be magically healed by whatever snake-oil the traveling salesman was selling.
It seems Obama has been caught doing this old trick. Check this out:
Obama is “The Man” women are fainting in the crowd just like when Sinatra was on stage. Today in New Hampshire a woman just fainted and last month at an Opra rally they were dropping like Flies.
Jim Vicevich, our Connecticut WTIC morning radio conservative talk host, notes the eerie similarity of female fainting episodes at Obama rallies.
James Taranto’s “The Best of the Web Today” picks up this theme in a posting today.“James Vicevich, a Connecticut radio talk show host, takes note of yet another creepy element of the Obama campaign.
It happened here in Hartford ….Throughout the speech, Obama kept a close eye on the crowd. Upon hearing a small group begin chanting “We can’t wait” — a phrase Obama had just used — he pointed them out with an outstretched arm, and within seconds the entire arena was chanting the phrase in unison.
And when a woman appeared to faint in the standing-only VIP section in front of the podium, Obama paused his speech for over a minute as he directed the crowd to make way for an EMT team and tossed a bottle of water from the stage.
James Vicevich, a Connecticut radio talk show host, takes note of yet another creepy element of the Obama campaign. Consider these reports from Obama rallies:
Montecito, Calif., Sept. 8, 2007. "A woman standing in front of the stage appeared to faint as Obama spoke about Iraq," the Associated Press reported. "The candidate paused and asked the crowd to make way for firefighters. One supporter shouted, 'You're a good man,' leaving Obama momentarily at a loss for words. 'Well, I'm not the only one stopping to help her,' he said, sounding almost embarrassed."
Madison, Wis., Oct. 22, 2007. "This excitement mirrored the aura in the room that grew throughout his speech," reported WISN-TV. "Before the senator arrived, students were tossing around an inflatable cow above the crowd. Three people fainted in the midst of all the enthusiasm."
Hanover, N.H., Jan. 8, 2008. "Barack Obama's first and only rally on election day came to a sudden and lengthy stop when a young woman in the Dartmouth College gym fainted, and was eventually rolled off on a gurney by emergency medical technicians," the Los Angeles Times reported. "At first Obama half-narrated the episode, saying soothing things like, 'She's OK,' 'She's talking.' But the longer she lay on the floor, the quieter Obama got, standing on the podium, arms folded, looking worried as the medical crew worked." Minneapolis's WCCO-TV has video showing Obama handing a bottle of water to the Dartmouth damsel in distress.

What exactly are we to make of this? A cynic might wonder if the whole thing isn't staged, given how often it happens and how well-honed and self-serving Obama's standard response seems to be.
