David is crying. Loved those little blond curls.

If only it were so easy to chop our hair off when we got older!

Loves!

Oh no! Her beautiful curls! My daughter did the same thing when she was 4yrs. old. Right before her professional pictures. I actually love those pictures now. They make me smile and I'm going to use them for blackmail.

Oh that is so sad - her sweet little curls gone. How diid you handle it? I would have sobbed

Oh no! But I can't help but laugh at the smug look on her face. That's a girl who knows what she wants. My daughter did the same thing when she was young. She's almost 14 now and has long beautiful hair. So hang in there. There is hope.

That is so sad. I'm dreading the day that Savannah does that and I hope that she never does. Wish I were there to cut it for you to make it look super cute. Hopefully you can find someone that can.

Give her a darling little pixie cut! It will be so sweet with her little face.

The long hair & curls hid her expressive face & I think the short new do will really grow on you!

Oh my goodness. My best friend's son did something similar to our Caroline. You are right -- what a little stinker! I agree with anonymous -- a little pixie cut would be darling.

oh no! I would be so sad! I loved her curls. But I'm sure she will be darling with her short hair as well.

Oh no!! That look on her face is hilarious though, she looks so satisfied. This is one of those things that will be upsetting to her when she gets older and sees photos of herself.

Oh that is pretty bad! Hailey cut her hair once and it really was not noticeable at all. Then about a year ago, Jared cut some of her hair right on the top of her head, and it stuck straight up no matter how we combed it. That was not fun! I sure hope her curls grow back!!

She is adorable no matter what..but she sure knew what she was doing didn't she? Her expression says it all.

This hasn't ever happened at my house, but I wouldn't exempt Everett from not trying it someday.

I am sick for you! How did she fare when she looked in the mirror? Any recovery?

What a bummer! Luckily I made it without my only girl cutting off her hair! I always told her she would look like a boy if she did. She is 10 now so I think we are out of the woods!

oh, so sorry, I know it makes you a little sick to your stomach...if she wasn't just so darn cute even without her golden curls!

Oh my! I guess Sally Jane knew how much you loved her curls and she thinks she showed you she is in charge. I bet she loves the new "do" and couldn't care less how it looks. Now at 14, she would be immediately sorry she did that. Feed her a lot of protein and it will come back before you know it. Tell her Mimi loves her no matter how she cuts her hair.

I'm so sad for you but the Joe Dirt photo has me cracking up! A chop of the back in to a bob and she'll be good to go. What other choice do you have? Lots of flower headbands if she'll leave them on. Oh that smile is so mischievous, she is a cute stinker!

I don't mean to laugh, but your comparison to Joe Dirt makes me laugh... I did the same thing a few times when I was little. And it usually tended to be right before school picture time. So I apologize.. I can now start to understand how my mom must have felt. But she's still really cute!

Oh...oh! Her sweet little Goldilocks curls! She sure looks proud of herself in that picture...too cute. And the picture comparison of Joe Dirt made me laugh.

I wouldn't be laughing if I was you! So sad..hopefully it grows back quickly.

About Joe Dirt...haven't we all had a haircut like that at some point in our lives. Not funny buy maybe true?

I'm curious as well, how did you react?

serious up front....party in the back!! Marvelous mullet my dear.
I was laughing so hard at the Joe Dirt photo comparison.

It's not permanent so it could be worse. Just hope all the attention (positive & negative) does not make her do it again in the future just to show who is in charge. I do love your girls' spunk! ;)

I literally gasped out loud when I saw the picture of hair in your hand.....I knew if I scrolled down I'd see a picture of a cute little girl with a good ol self-haircut! I am so sorry. I know you'll come up with some cute cut in the meantime!!!!

When our nephew butchered - er, cut! - his little sister's hair, their mother printed on the sister's T-shirt, "My Big Brother cut my hair! For appointments, call Zach. 312-555-1234" "Knowing Moms" laughed

When I taught preschool, there was a little girl that had hair past her little bum, her mom always put it in pig tails.... one day another student walked up and cut off ONE of her pig tails, totally! I was SO relieved that she wasn't in my class, cuz I would not want to be the one to tell her mom!

My daughter cut her hair when she was young, I think it happens more than not! It is sad, but thank goodness it grows back!!!

Twice this spring Evie's friends cut her hair. First her bangs, then the back. At least she brought the back home in a bag. her hair is so fine and grows so slow.....Oh well.

SJ is cute no matter what! Happy 4th!
