oh wow- i love christmas miracles. you know, this reminds me of something i've been thinking about just based on a headline i read- it said something to the effect that elder (ballard? nelson? one of the two- i always mix them up) was encouraging students to use public media, such as blogs, to further expose people to the church. it's powerful to see what incredible things can happen when people get connected.
This is why you and your cute family are there serving in this ward at this time. What a blessing and a gift this will be for these families! WOW! I love this!
Yes, yes, yes! What a complete miracle! That's just fantastic; I'm so pleased this is all happening for your ward. It reminds me of Christ telling the Disciples how blessed they were by what they had seen, but how more blessed those are who believe and have NOT seen. To SEE via miracles like this is just wonderful.
Yikes to your parcels on the doorstep though! The Royal Mail won't leave anything on your step here - if I'm out I have to schlepp off to a sorting office and collect it. With a special collection card. And proof of ID. Yaaawn.

I think I better prepare myself for a pretty emotional week of this awesome Christmas spirit.
Today I left the house early in the freezing wind to get to the bank and Costco right when it opened. Our Costco is unbelievably crowded all day with the exception of the first 15 minutes.
I felt like I needed to Ho Ho Ho the whole time I was in the car because of what I was doing - let me explain. Last week I got a card in the mail from a blogger I have never met. She sent $100 to go to the children or our ward. As I opened the card Caroline came up to me and said, "mom are you sick?" I was sitting there crying. I was so overcome with emotion, like the kind when your cupped hands have to hold your face up. The day before we were trying to figure out how to get one of Jeff's young men a keyboard for his home. This boy had set a goal to learn how to play the piano and wants to play a song in church for our general meeting someday. His only time to practice is a few minutes at church. We felt strongly that we needed to find a way to get him one of his own to practice at home. I had already used many resources to fill family needs and was not sure how to make this possible. And then the miracle money came. I was so excited to go buy it today and come home to wrap it up. In the next week we will be helping coordinate over 80 visits to people and families from our church in the city. 80! I am not sure how all of this will be possible, so we will be using all the faith we can muster to make this happen. As I pulled up to my house the above photo is what I saw. 13 boxes that have been sent from our friends, family and people I have never met. Full of gifts for members of our ward. Full of gifts. I could not even open my front door all the way there were so many. Thank you to all of you silent (they made me promise not to tell the world who they are) Santa Claus elves out there. I so look forward to my next week of posts describing the delivery process. It will definitely include Jeff getting his Santa suit on. You are not even going to believe what we have planned for Christmas Eve - hint it involves a Barn!
