That's amazing! I just ran a half in March and I am itching to do it again. Seeing your pictures makes me feel restless, but running is about to get tough here in AZ because of the heat. Kristi, if you ever want to run a half, check out the canyonlands half marathon in Moab, Utah. It is absolutely gorgeous and you would not be dissapointed. I would love to meet you and you would be more than welcome to run with my sister and me. I think sign-ups for 2009 start in October 2008.

I love it...the photos especially speak volumes of symbolism of our life here on earth...the challenge it is...and then just to get to the finish, and be greeted by family. The picture of you and him hugging as well as the one of you crying is somewhat what it probably feel like after our sojourn here is over. Hope this comment isn't too weird...the photos are just beautiful and display such a range of emotion and triumph! Thanks for sharing!

You live in the perfect area of the country to train for an early October marathon. It's a fast one too...it makes you feel good about yourself!

YEA for Jeff!! And Anne is such a good friend to your family. The ziti sounds yummy!! It is one of my favorite dishes and I NEVER eat it!! I should try this recipe. .. even if we aren't running a marathon at my house!

A trip to Fleet Feet to stock up on gu... [Image]and making the best carbo filled baked ziti ever... National Marathon Baked Ziti 16 oz. ziti pasta 1lb 10 oz. bottle spaghetti sauce (trader joe's has a great one) 6 oz. sliced provolone (or enough to cover 9x13) 6 oz. mozzarella cheese 1 ½ -2 cups sour cream 1 pd. Ground beef 1 onion, chopped Grated parmesan cheese Cook pasta according to package directions. Brown ground beef and onion. Add spaghetti sauce. Layer as follows in a greased 9x13 pan. Half of the ziti, provolone cheese, sour cream, half of the sauce mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese, and remaining sauce mixture. Top with parmesan cheese and bake at 350 for 30 min. or until cheese is melted.

Anyone who trains for a marathon in the freezing winter of the East should get an extra t-shirt! I was so proud of Jeff for finishing the race but also knocking minutes off his time from the other one he ran just 5 months ago! ( i would love to have run by my 6 hour marathon finish doesn't qualify me to run anything more than the path in my neighborhood)
[Image]Jeff's parents came across the country to see him finish. [Image]I of course cried! And the two little girls said as they went to bed, "my daddy is fast!"
[Image]The mayor of D.C. also ran and finished just after Jeff. He is responsible for starting this new marathon just 5 years ago. [Image]But the true hero of the day was Anne! A blogging friend and also a marathon runner who came to cheer Jeff on. [Image]we didn't make it to mile 16 where we had planned to meet him but Anne did. She snapped this photo and gave him the boost he said he so desperately needed! [Image]Backcountry.com gets honorable mention for their merino wool zip shirt - Jeff says it was a life saver! note the goat!
[Image]it was great having him run it just to get this leg collapsing hug after he finished. Way to go Superman!
