I was stuck for wrapping paper too today. I considered stamping onto brown wrapping paper with embossing ink and glitter, but I couldn't find the 'right' rubber stamp - and time was ticking. So I stuck two pieces of wrapping paper together and hoped the little girl who got it wouldn't notice the patchwork-effect!
You're always so resourceful with your gift-giving and wrapping, I love to see what you come up with. It cracks me up that you had multiple bicycle baskets lying around, but at the same time it's totally YOU!
I hear on you on the ribbon tasting good in a flood, at least we won't be bored right?
I have christmas giftwrap coming out of my ears. I don't know why I can't just walk away from those 25 cent bins of wrapping paper at Walmart after Christmas.
For the longest time I never had anything to wrap with for birthdays or other occasions. I finally found some great wrapping paper from paper source that I can use for christmas, birthdays and weddings.
I love the bicycle basket idea. Very cute how you made it work.
Very cute indeed. Love using what I have around my house- I've used sandbuckets for gifts with the child's name on them (all cute with paint pen) and all kinds of baskets (never bike baskets though). I found this link for you too (I think it's different from the other one): http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6931327
I think you should visit your local cannery!! It isn't hard to get a few items that your family will eat and start building on it. A little each month. The instant potato flakes from the church are the best!!
it's great to have you and all your great ideas back! with food storage on your mind, i thought i'd share my latest discover- www.everydayfoodstorage.com
I was doing so-so in the food storage department, and then a year ago a friend of mine got into the cannery thing, and I tagged along and got it all done. It was the best feeling - go for it!
I have tons of gift wrap & no ribbon! For food storage my ward is doing this program called squirrel it away. It is super easy & great. It's not a whole year supply but it's a great start. Every Sunday they give us an item to buy & how much based on how many people are in our family. This week it's 5lb. of sugar per person & one box powdered sugar per person. I really need to send you the flyer on the year! email me your address. ps.Cute baskets!!
I am the same way. I never have gift wrap around. I'm always scrambling at the last minute to find something to put a gift in. I love your creative solution for the baby shower!
Great idea - very resourceful! I remember you posting about those tags on etsy. I hopped over and ordered some too. The seller's name was every jot and tittle. :) missy

You are one of the most inventive and creative people I know. Too funny about the food storage. The funniest thing in my food storage is a stroller and I don't have kids but you never know who will come for a visit.

[Image] got Gift wrap?
I never seem to have gift wrap around when I need it, or even when I don't need it, I find it so hard to store. the other night I went to a baby shower (at the cutest house ever) and had nothing to wrap the gift with.
I had a few sheets of pink tissue paper. They were not big enough to wrap around the gift. I have a slew of these plastic bicycle baskets that I got for $.25 at Target. So I tied two of them together with ribbon put the gift in the baskets and the tissue on top.
I love using my little tags I got from someone's Etsy shop, but can't remember where it is.
So I was laughing at myself that I have lots of items I have found for a quarter but don't have the essentials and the things I need. Food storage seems to be on my mind a lot lately. My yards of ribbon sit in my food storage room and Jeff always says, "I sure hope that ribbon will taste good during a flood"

It is fun to get creative with the obvious supplies aren't around. It looks like you are back here in full force. You have been missed.
