I love that you reviewed this book! It's good to see that others can acknowledge that Children's Literature is still literature... and some profound lesson can be learned through them.
We're going to have to check this one out. :)

I am going to rush out & buy this book. I have been looking for a book for my 11 year old to start off the summer & I think we would both LOVE it.
Children's literature is what got me recently reading. Goose Girl & the other Shannon Hale books changed my adult life... I actually like to read- for the first time ever.

I have wanted to read this book, but have never picked it up yet. I'm so excited that you're reading and loving it!

Might I suggest something by Sharon Creech next? Possibly Granny Torelli Makes Soup? or Walk Two Moons? And if you haven't read Because of Winn-Dixie, you should.

So is this a book written for junior readers? I need to check this on Amazon. It sounds so good, I'll be annoyed if it's only available from the USA.

Do you fold pages of books, Kristi?
*shudders*
Only kidding. Or am I? No, really I think I'd go spare if I lent you a book and you folded the pages! My husband's the same. He tries to read books without cracking the spine. Do we need to chill out??

I'm going to have to read this book. I had never heard of it until I bought a set of books at Costco last week for my daughter and Ida B was one of the books in it. As soon as I finish the book I am on I've got to start reading it.
By the way, the Costcos here in Texas has these sets of books for $13 for 5 books. I actually bought them for my daughter's summer reading but I will have to read them too.

It's such a coincidence that I happened to read this book this very week too! Seriously, how did we do that?

I totally loved it and think I've lost any Ida B. I had in me as well. I love the quotes you pulled out of this!

This is a great book isn't it? Lindsey and I read it together last summer and then talked about it. We both really liked it. It has some great lessons in it, doesn't it? We've got a plan to have another book or two to read and discuss this summer.

You NEED to get all of Kate Dicamillo's books. They are so beautifully written and have such great themes/messages. Your kids will love reading them, or even better...having you read to them!!

I've been lurking on your blog for awhile now and finally decided to comment when I saw that you found this book. I did the same thing when I found it one day at D.I. I though, oh this just "looks" like a good book. And it was. I'm so glad you enjoyed it too. Isn't finding cheap books that turn out to be wonderful one of the best things in life?
