oh, I remember feeling just like Annie Kate and refusing to wear matching homemade dresses. I remember sitting in church with my darling little sisters and thinking "they look cute and I look dumb" which I didn't looking back on it, but thats how adolecence goes. That was the last time we ever wore matching dresses.
It cracks me up that Annie Kate was happy the dress didn't fit her anymore. I looked at all the pictures and think she looks so pretty in the black dress. She suddenly looks so much older, like a young lady (that sounds cheesy) and not such a little girl. I think it's good she has her own opinion about what she wants to wear. At least you've got the two little girls to dress cute for several more years until they have an opinion about it. I love the big purple bow on the back of the dress.
Love the b&w photo of you and the girls! What a crack up that Annie Kate is glad to not have to wear the matching dresses anymore. She's growing up, alright! And, once again, I'm flabbergasted by being able to make anything reversible.

After talking to you yesterday, I got motivated to sneak in one last Halloween task-and went out today to buy fabric for Emma for a Halloween dress. I had a pattern that would work over a long sleeve shirt and tights (like a shift dress) and bought black and white diagonal gingham for the bottom and orange and white polka dots for the yoke top, then a black grograin ribbon in between. It is turning out very "kristi" and I will email you a pic!
You are so crazy talented. Where do you come from? Annie Kate will love it when she goes to a dance and needs your expertise. Just you wait.

[Image]Halloween Dresses. click here to see photo in color I made these dresses for the girls (at the time I only had two girls) 3 years ago. My mother in law was in town and she helped me come up with the idea of the tied top so I didn't have to do a button hole. I made them in a size 6 and size 1. Annie Kate was more than thrilled that it didn't fit her today and that it was getting passed down to Caroline. It was too big on Caroline but still worked. I came up with the idea to sew a big purple ribbon on the back and tie it so it didn't look so big. (which I was doing 10 minutes before I left for church) Sally Jane's was too small so I put a white petticoat dress underneath. Today was just one of those days that I was so happy I knew how to sew and love making dresses for my girls. I was able to find a photo of them wearing them the year I made them but could not find one for 2005. I hope they have fond memories of wearing these as much as I do making them. [Image]we had such a busy weekend, I can't wait to find the time to write about our sites in the city as well as projects at home, but for now I must get some sleep for my big Sleeping Beauty sewing week...
*** for sewers it is the Lucy pattern, monogrammed on the outside with a boo design in purple, I downloaded for free off the internet. Then the lining of the dress is monogrammed with the girls names in lime green. The dress is totally reversible and is piped with lime green ric rack.
