My guess is that those Israeli warships are there to be sacrificed as a false-flag attack by Israeli/American units so the USA will have the excuse it needs to join the attack.
Israel knows damn good and well there's no way it can take on Iran in a fair fight and would have to go nuclear within a day or two.
Why waste your nukes when you can trick Uncle Sam into fighting for you?
